Riders Tour 2012

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Riders Tour 2012 was the twelfth season of the Riders Tour , an internationally advertised show jumping tournament series .

In 2012, the Riders Tour extended over seven special stages at CSI 3 *, 4 * and 5 * tournaments in Germany. The Riders Tour is organized by a company of the same name, whose managing director is Paul Schockemöhle .

The title sponsor of the series was Deutsche Kreditbank , and Solartechnik Stiens GmbH was also the main sponsor.

Course of the tournament series

The stations of the Riders Tour 2012 took place between April 29th and November 4th.

The special tests were usually the grand prizes of the tournaments. In the German show jumping and dressage derby , the jumping derby was the Riders Tour rating test. At the Whitsun tournament in Wiesbaden , the Grand Prix of the CSI 5 * tournament (first stop on the Global Champions Tour ) was held on Saturday , the Riders Tour rating was the previous Grand Prix on Monday. This was now referred to as the Prize of the State Capital Wiesbaden and formed the end of the tournament.

The valuation tests were each announced as a jumping competition with two different rounds . The penalty points were not taken over from the first round, so the announcement (except for the starting order in the second round) is largely similar to a jumping competition with a winning round.

The best 25 percent of the starters of the first round qualified for the second round. If more than these 25 percent were fault-free in the first round, all faultless riders were entitled to start in the second round of the test.

The season finale was the final in Munich. This was a normal special stage. However, in order to participate in the award of the overall ranking, participation in Munich was absolutely necessary.

The points were awarded as follows:

space 1 2 3 4th 5 6th 7th 8th 9 10 11 12 13 14th 15th

media

As in the previous year, the 2012 season showed that the public television broadcasters partially withdrew from the equestrian sport broadcasts. As far as the tests of the Riders Tour were broadcast on television, these are usually broadcast by the third party programs to varying degrees.

The basis for the transmissions is the contract between the German Equestrian Association and the sports rights agency of the public broadcasters.

The German Jumping Derby is an exception. This stands out from the equestrian events in Germany due to its peculiarity and tradition and was therefore initially broadcast by NDR television and then by First German Television .

On the other hand, the evaluation test in Hagen was not carried over for the second year in a row, although the tournament as CSI 4 * belonged to the second highest category in show jumping. The tournament was broadcast live via an Internet live stream. This is also the case for all other tournaments on the Riders Tour.

The exams

The tournament program is unchanged compared to the previous year.

1st examination: Hagen aTW

The start of the Riders Tour 2012 took place at the CSI 4 * tournament " Horses & Dreams " in Hagen am Teutoburg Forest . This will be held from April 25th to April 29th, 2012.

The valuation test - the Grand Prize, which is endowed with 75,000 euros - was held on April 29th from 12:45 p.m. The course was created by Frank Rothenberger and Klaus Holle. In the first lap, seven riders did not complete the course, with twelve riders exactly the 25 percent of the starters that were planned.

In the second lap, the first starter, Nicolas Pizarro from Mexico, initially took the lead. This stayed that way for a long time because several riders had a mistake at the entry of the double combination. As a result, the riders did not ride this combination at full risk. After Simon Delestre was able to take the lead with Napoli du Ry in the meantime , Katrin Eckermann was the last to start. This maintained a high speed with Carlson also in the combination and was thus over two seconds faster than Delestre.

2nd exam: Hamburg

Winner of the 83rd German Jumping Derby: Nisse Lüneburg with Calle Cool

An early highlight of the Riders Tour season was the German Jumping Derby as part of the German Jumping and Dressage Derby . This tournament, which takes place in Hamburg , was held from May 17th to 20th, 2012. With prize money of 100,000 euros, the jumping derby is the most highly endowed competition on the Riders Tour.

The jumping derby course, unchanged in its basic structure since 1920, was implemented by the German course designer Frank Rothenberger. The test was a jumping competition with one jump-off. The task given to the riders and horses turned out to be very demanding, as always in the show jumping derby. After there were initially individual four-fault rides, last year's second Torben Köhlbrandt was the first rider to achieve a fault-free ride. Later in the test, Nisse Lüneburg succeeded in doing this with the derby-experienced horse Calle Cool . A total of eleven riders out of 35 riders were eliminated due to wrong paths, refusals or falls. In addition, three riders gave up.

Of the two participating women, the winner of the German professional equestrian championships in 2011 and 2012, Judith Emmers , showed a very good lap and in the end came third with the fastest lap with four penalty points in circulation.

The last round of his sports career showed Nacorde , André Thieme 's successful Derby horse , in circulation . Thieme, who won the derby for the third time last year, had a throw on the Buschoxer and finished the test with four fault points in fifth place. After the exam, Nacorde was retired from the sport.

In the jump-off, Torben Köhlbrandt showed a quick ride with C-Trenton Z , but had to record an obstacle release. After him, Nisse Lüneburg took on a slower but flawless lap at the obstacles. Despite a time penalty in the jump-off, Nisse Lüneburg is the bearer of the blue ribbon for the victory in the 83rd German Jumping Derby.

3rd exam: Wiesbaden

Traditionally on the Whitsun weekend, this year from May 25th to May 28th, the International Whitsun Tournament Wiesbaden took place in Wiesbaden . The important jumping competitions of the tournament, which was part of the Global Champions Tour for the first time, formed a CSI 5 * tournament in 2012. This was the first time that a CSI 5 * tournament was part of the Riders Tour, but the Grand Prix was not the special stage. The prize of the state capital Wiesbaden , which counts for the Riders Tour , was held on Monday afternoon from 3:45 p.m. and concluded the tournament. The examination was endowed with 75,000 euros.

Like the Global Champions Tour exam two days earlier, the course for the State Capital Prize was devised by Frank Rothenberger. Appropriate for the starting field of a CSI 5 * tournament, the jumping course had a number of difficulties. The last straight in the course, which had the sequence of obstacles triple bar - moat - rick - rick , presented a special challenge . In total, only five riders out of 43 starters stayed clear in the first round, one rider had a time penalty with his horse. Favorites such as Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum , Pius Schwizer or Richard Spooner gave up after several obstacle errors.

Since the Riders Tour regulations stipulate 25 percent of the starters for the second round (here 11 of 43), the five fastest riders also qualified for the second round with four penalty points. In the second lap, several riders tried to push through the competition with fast rides right at the beginning, but this did not succeed due to obstacle errors. As the first rider, Holger Wulschner managed a faultless round in the second round with Cefalo , he remained the only German rider with this result. Luciana Diniz was the last rider to start the course, with Lennox she had the fastest time in the second lap and who also stayed clear.

4th exam: Münster

The fourth stage of the Riders Tour was the tournament of the winners in Münster . This took place after the summer break of the Riders Tour, which in 2012 was longer than in previous years due to the early Olympic Summer Games and the early Whitsun Festival. The tournament took place in 2012 from August 23 to August 26, 2012. The Grand Prix on Sunday was the Riders Tour special stage, which was endowed with € 80,000.

The course designer in Münster was Eckhard Hilker from Oelde . After the tournament Saturday was still characterized by sunny weather, a heavy rain shower discharged over the tournament grounds at the beginning of the Grand Prix. After the tournament could only take place to a limited extent in the previous year due to heavy rainfall, the floor of the tournament area was completely renewed. As a result, the clay court was damp, but the conditions were far better than in 2011. The first round of the test was demanding, many riders finished the round with a result of four penalty points. On the other hand, only four horse-rider pairs managed a faultless lap. Thus, in the second round, eight participants were allowed to start with four penalty points from the first round, which were canceled according to the regulations.

The course in the second lap had many turns and a long curved finishing line. Half of the twelve remaining riders crossed the finish line in the second lap without making any mistakes. After Pius Schwizer was in the lead with his young gelding Powerplay , Christian Ahlmann and Codex One clearly took the lead. This stayed that way until the last starter, who - Ludger Beerbaum - was more than a second faster. This means that Beerbaum and Chaman won the Grand Prix on two consecutive weekends (both had won the Valkenswaard Grand Prix a week earlier ).

5th exam: Paderborn

The fifth evaluation test of the DKB-Riders Tour 2012 was held on the Schützenplatz in Paderborn . This is part of the E.ON Westfalen Weser Challenge , which took place from September 6th to September 9th, 2012.

The course for the evaluation test was built by Christian Wiegand. In the second round of the top twelve riders, six riders remained without errors. Three of these riders made up the victory among themselves, the gap between first and third placed rider was about one and a half seconds. Victory went to Marcus Ehning and the 15-year-old mare Noltes Küchengirl , Ehning won the Paderborn Grand Prix for the second time after 2010.

6. Exam: Hanover

The first test of the Riders Tour in the indoor season traditionally takes place at the German Classics . This tournament was held in Hall 2 in Hanover from October 25 to October 28, 2012. The special stage of the Riders Tour took place on October 28th at 12:55 pm.

In the first round, eleven out of 48 participants made no mistakes. Since, according to the regulations, 25 percent of the starters reach the second round, Cassio Rivetti, the fastest rider, qualified for it with four penalty points. Rivetti seized his chance on the second lap and stayed clear with Lord if de Chalusse in 34.64 seconds. Many of the following starters tried to achieve a faster time and had to accept obstacle errors. Markus Renzel was also the first to manage a faultless lap, but with his nine-year-old horse Cassydy he walked a cautious pace. Clarissa Crotta also managed with West Side v. Meerputhoeve again a clear round, but was slower than Rivetti. Ludger Beerbaum and Chaman started as the penultimate pair, made no mistakes and were 17 hundredths of a second faster than Cassio Rivetti. Beerbaum secured the victory, this was his second victory at the third start of this year's Riders Tour.

7. Exam: Munich

The final stage of the DKB-Riders Tour 2012 was carried out as part of the Munich Indoors , a tournament taking place in the Munich Olympic Hall . This CSI 4 * tournament was held from November 1st to November 4th 2012. The special stage, the Grand Prix, took place on November 4th at 2:15 p.m.

In the first round there were 49 horse-rider pairs at the start. The high number of 26 starters had a result of four or fewer penalty points. In the second lap, the 13 best starters from the first lap started again. The previous leader of the Riders Tour, Luciana Diniz, had a throw in the first lap, but was among the best 13th due to her fast time. Diniz, who, like all riders, started without penalty points in the second lap, set a fast time with Lennox and set take the lead. A little later, David Will, who had previously placed fifth on the Riders Tour, started with Colorit . Born in Bavaria, Will was faster than Diniz and took the lead.

Most of the riders starting now tried to undercut Will's time, but this did not succeed. The last rider to start was Marcus Ehning, who has so far been third on the Riders Tour. With the stallion Cornado NRW Ehning also showed a fast ride, made no mistakes, but was almost a second slower than David Will, who won the Grand Prix with it.

Overall rating

The best placed rider in the overall ranking received prizes after the season was over. However, this required participation in the final exam in Munich. As a result, Ludger Beerbaum (40 points, second place in front of Munich), Christian Ahlmann (26 points, sixth place in front of Munich) and Simon Delestre (23 points, eighth place) did not appear in the final standings, as both of them at the World Cup tournament Lyon instead of Munich were at the start.
