Riders Tour 2013

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2013 DKB-Riders Tour was the thirteenth season of the Riders Tour , an international show jumping tournament series .

In 2013, the Riders Tour extended over seven special stages at CSI 3 *, 4 * and 5 * tournaments in Germany. The Riders Tour is organized by a company of the same name, whose managing director is Paul Schockemöhle .

The title sponsor of the series is Deutsche Kreditbank , and Solartechnik Stiens GmbH is also the main sponsor.

Course of the tournament series

The tournaments of the Riders Tour 2013 took place between April 17th and November 3rd.

The special tests were usually the grand prizes of the tournaments. In the German show jumping and dressage derby , the jumping derby was the Riders Tour rating test. At the Whitsun tournament in Wiesbaden , the Riders Tour rating was the prize of the state capital Wiesbaden on Monday.

With the exception of the German Jumping Derby, the evaluation tests were each advertised as a jumping competition with two different rounds . The penalty points were not taken over from the first round, so the announcement (except for the starting order in the second round) was largely similar to a jumping competition with a winning round.

The ten best starters from the first round qualified for the second round. If more than ten riders were fault-free in the first round, they were all eligible to start in the second round of the test.

The season finale was the final in Munich. This was a normal special stage. However, in order to be able to enter the overall ranking at the end of the season, the riders had to take part in the final. If this was not the case, they were not included in the overall ranking.

The points were awarded as follows:

space 1 2 3 4th 5 6th 7th 8th 9 10 11 12 13 14th 15th

media

The tests of the Riders Tour 2013 were mainly shown to varying degrees by the public television broadcasters , usually by the third party programs .

The evaluation test in Hagen was only broadcast by NDR on its website, the test in Paderborn was not shown on television. The German Jumping Derby stands out from the equestrian events in Germany due to its peculiarity and tradition and was partially broadcast by ZDF .

All Riders Tour tournaments were broadcast via an internet livestream.

The exams

The tournament program was unchanged compared to the previous year.

1st examination: Hagen aTW

John Whitaker and Argento at the award ceremony for the special stage in Hagen

The start of the Riders Tour 2013 took place at the CSI 4 * tournament " Horses & Dreams " in Hagen am Teutoburg Forest . This was held from April 17 to April 21, 2013.

The Riders Tour special test in Hagen aTW was the first international Grand Prix in the “green season” in 2013 in Germany. There were 50 riders with their horses at the start, of which twelve pairs managed a fault-free lap in the first lap. Since 13 starters were planned for the second round, the fastest rider with four penalty points, Robert Whitaker , was allowed to start there in addition to the clear ones.

Seven clear rounds were ridden in the second round. John Whitaker and Argento took the lead with a fast clear lap, where he was shortly before the end of the test. The two youngest riders in the jump-off, Jan Wernke and Maurice Tebbel , tried to take the lead from Whitaker with very fast rides, but had to accept mistakes. Janika Sprunger started as the last rider with Electra van't Roosakker , but she was slower and also had a mistake on the last jump. So the victory went to John Whitaker.

The test was endowed with around € 75,000, the course was designed by Klaus W. Holle and Olaf Herrmann.

2nd exam: Hamburg

The winners of the German Jumping Derby 2013 on Wall: Gilbert Tillmann and Hello Max

An early highlight of the Riders Tour season was the German Jumping Derby as part of the German Jumping and Dressage Derby . This tournament, which takes place in Hamburg , was held from May 9th to 12th, 2013.

The jumping derby course, unchanged in its basic structure since 1920, was implemented again by the German course designer Frank Rothenberger. The test was a jumping competition with one jump-off. In addition to the German starters, who make up the main part of the starting field at the Derby, there were also four British riders at the start.

In 2013, in the normal round of the jumping derby, none of the riders managed a faultless round. The main focus of errors was traditionally the wall, the immediately following plank and Pulvermann's grave . But the Irish walls also caused problems for several starters. Last year's winning couple, Nisse Lüneburg and Calle Cool, had to accept 16 penalty points. At the end of the normal round, two riders and their horses were in the lead - each with a result of four penalty points. These two participants therefore had to compete again in the jump-off to determine the winner of the test.

The derby winner from 1999 and 2010, Carsten-Otto Nagel and Lex Lugar were the first to start the jump-off. Nagel had to accept a drop at the railroad barriers and crossed the finish line with four penalty points in 53.64 seconds. Gilbert Tillmann and Hello Max started as the second couple . Tillmann had to record four penalty points at the gate (a gate), whereupon he increased the pace. He brought this result to the finish line in a time of 52.63 seconds, which meant the first derby victory of his career for the 31-year-old rider.

During the award ceremony, Gilbert Tillmann announced that this was the last course for his 19-year-old gelding Hello Max and that he would say goodbye to him with this victory.

3rd exam: Wiesbaden

Traditionally on the Whitsun weekend, this year from May 17th to May 20th, the International Whitsun Tournament Wiesbaden took place in Wiesbaden . The important jumping competitions of the tournament, which was a stage of the Global Champions Tour , formed a CSI 5 * tournament in 2013. The prize of the state capital Wiesbaden , which counts for the Riders Tour , was held on Monday afternoon and concluded the tournament.

In the first round of the test, 45 riders started. Twelve riders managed a flawless lap with their horses, which resulted in qualification for the second round. Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and Jeroen Dubbeldam just missed this , both of them received a time penalty in the first lap.

Denis Lynch was the first rider to start with Lantinus . With his high speed he tried to put the following participants under pressure, but risked too much in a turn and therefore had to accept a refusal and an obstacle drop . Another flawless ride was achieved by five participants in the second lap. The victory went to Cameron Hanley with Antello Z . For Hanley, this was the first win in a world ranking test since a serious injury that prevented him from riding for over a year.

4th exam: Münster

The fourth stage of the Riders Tour was the tournament of the winners in Münster . This took place after the summer break of the Riders Tour. The tournament was held from July 18th to July 21st in 2013, the Grand Prix on Sunday was the Riders Tour special stage.

The first round of the Grand Prix was a demanding one. Nevertheless, it became clear early on that even with four penalty points it would be difficult to qualify for the second round of the top 12 participants. As a result, many riders gave up after throwing obstacles, twelve of 47 starter pairs did not finish the round. Ten pairs of starters remained without mistakes, the two fastest participants with four penalty points also qualified for the second round.

In the second lap the riders started again without penalty points, there were eight faultless laps here. Angelica Augustsson showed a very fast ride in the second lap with her mare Mic Mac du Tillard , which remained faultless. None of the following starters came close to this time, Augustsson won with a lead of over a second.

In the first round of the Grand Prix, around half of the starters achieved a result of four penalty points or better. In the second round of the best 12 participants, new horse-rider pairs made no mistakes. The French rider Simon Delestre and his 11-year-old stallion with Valentino Velvet showed the fastest clear round and won the test.

6. Exam: Hanover

The first test of the Riders Tour in the indoor season traditionally took place at the German Classics . This tournament was held in Hall 2 in Hanover from October 17 to October 20, 2013. The Grand Prix took place on October 20th from around 1 p.m., the course was planned by Frank Rothenberger and Christian Wiegand.

In the first round of the test, the triple combination (obstacles 5a / b / c) behind a double combination formed a focus of errors. Thirteen horse-rider pairs remained clear and qualified for the second round, Willem Greve missed the allowed time with Carambole , a time error prevented qualification for the second round.

In the first half of the second lap, Gert-Jan Bruggink and his nine-year-old gelding Dejavu took the lead, with a time of 32.44 seconds without mistakes. The following starters did not achieve the result of Bruggink, Laura Kraut came closest with Vindicat W , the horse of her student Jessica Springsteen . Kraut stayed 27 hundredths of a second slower than Bruggink and also had an obstacle release. The second fastest rider with no mistakes was last year's winner Ludger Beerbaum, who was about a second slower than Gert-Jan Bruggink.

7. Exam: Munich

The final stage of the DKB-Riders Tour 2013 was carried out as part of the Munich Indoors , a tournament that takes place in the Munich Olympic Hall . This CSI 4 * tournament was held from October 31st to November 3rd, 2013. On November 3rd from 1:30 p.m. the winner of the final test, the Grand Prix, was determined.

Riders Tour leader Carsten-Otto Nagel and Corradina had to accept a drop in the first round of the test . His pursuer in the overall standings, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum , also had a drop in the first lap with Malou , so that at this point in time, Nagel could no longer take the overall victory of the Riders Tour. The decision to win the Grand Prix was made in the second lap: in the first half of the jump-off, Denis Nielsen took a clear lead with Come Undone . The winners from Hanover, Gert-Jan Bruggink and Dejavu missed Nielsen's time by two hundredths of a second. The American Audrey Coulter finally managed to take the lead with Acorte , which she had taken over from Rolf Moormann just a few weeks earlier . But their ride was not a winning ride either: John Whitaker and Argento were the last to start. With a faultless ride in a time of 33.32 seconds, Whitaker succeeded in winning another Riders Tour test after Hagen aTW.

The Grand Prize was endowed with around € 80,000, the course was planned by Christian Wiegand.
