Dean Lewis (born October 21, 1987 in Sydney ) is an Australian singer-songwriter .

biography

Dean Lewis taught himself to play guitar and was mostly inspired by the British band Oasis . Before starting his music career, he worked as a sound engineer on Australian television. In 2014, Lewis signed with the music label Specific Music , followed by a contract with Island Records in March 2016 .

At the end of September 2016 his first single, Waves , was released, which entered the ARIA charts . After a few weeks it reached number 12 as the highest position and was later awarded triple platinum . His debut EP Same Kind of Different was released in May 2017 . Lewis was nominated in five categories at the ARIA Awards 2017 . In June 2018 he released the single Be Alright , with which he achieved international success for the first time, it entered the charts in many European countries and reached several top 10 positions, and it was his first number one hit in Australia .
