Deborah Lynn Scott (* 1953 or 1954 ) is an American costume designer who won both an Oscar for best costume design and a Golden Satellite Award for outstanding costume design.

Life

Deborah Lynn Scott began her career as a costume designer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1980 at the slasher death cry on the phone (Do not answer the phone) and worked up to today in the costume and facilities for more than forty films.

In 1986 she was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Costume for the first time , namely for Back to the Future (1985) by Robert Zemeckis with Michael J. Fox , Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson . Between 1988 and 1990 she also worked as a costume designer for performances at theaters in New York City and created costumes for plays such as Nasty Little Secrets (1988), The Lark (1989) and Midsummer (1990).

At the Oscar ceremony in 1998 , she won the Oscar for best costumes in Titanic (1997) by James Cameron with Leonardo DiCaprio , Kate Winslet and Frances Fisher in the lead roles . At the same time she received the Golden Satellite Award for outstanding costume design for Titanic in 1998 . She was also nominated for the British Academy Film Award for best costumes .

For Der Patriot (2000) by Roland Emmerich with Mel Gibson , Heath Ledger and Joely Richardson , she was again nominated in 2001 for a Golden Satellite Award for outstanding costume design. For the science fiction film Minority Report (2002) by Steven Spielberg with Tom Cruise , Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton , she received another nomination for the Saturn Award for best costume in 2002.

Together with Mayes C. Rubeo , she received a 2010 nomination for the Costume Designers Guild (CDG Award) for excellent costume design in a fantasy film for Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora (2009) by James Cameron with Sam Worthington , Zoë Saldaña and Sigourney Weaver in the main roles.
