The Grein deanery is a deanery of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Linz .

Deanery Grein

The deanery comprises 10 parishes, all of which are located in the Perg district, although the parish boundaries do not always entirely coincide with the political boundaries: Bad Kreuzen, Dimbach, Grein, Klam, Pabneukirchen, Saxen, St. Georgen am Walde, St. Nikola an the Danube, St. Thomas on the bladder stone, Waldhausen im Strudengau. A small part of the parish of St. Nikola an der Donau belongs to the parish of Nöchling in the Maria Taferl dean's office in the diocese of St. Pölten .

From the re-establishment in the course of the Josephine reforms to the split off of the Grein deanery in 1879, the Pabneukirchen deanery initially comprised 19 parishes in the eastern half of the Perg district and the Freistadt district : Arbing , Baumgartenberg , Dimbach , Grein , Kaltenberg , Klam , Königswiesen , Kreuzen , Mitterkirchen , Königswiesen , Pabneukirchen , Pergkirchen , Pierbach , Saxen , St. Georgen am Walde , St. Nikola , St. Thomas am bladder stone , Unterweißbach , Waldhausen .

In 1823 the deanery of Pabneukirchen was expanded to include the parishes of Münzbach , Perg , Windhaag , and in 1909 the parish of Rechberg .

The Danube Bank Deanery Grein, which was newly created in 1878/1879 by splitting off from the Deanery Pabneukirchen, comprised 12 parishes up to the reorganization that came into effect on January 1, 1974, all of which previously belonged to the Deanery Pabneukirchen: Arbing , Baumgartenberg , Grein , Klam , Mitterkirchen , Münzbach , Perg , Pergkirchen , Saxen , St. Nikola , Waldhausen , Windhaag .

In 1974 the parishes of Arbing , Baumgartenberg , Mitterkirchen , Münzbach , Perg , Pergkirchen , Windhaag joined the deanery Perg from the deanery Grein .

The parishes of Dimbach , Bad Kreuzen , Pabneukirchen , St. Georgen am Walde and St. Thomas am bladder stone joined the dean's office in Grein in 1974 when the dean's office in Pabneukirchen was dissolved .
