history

Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria ( Avarmark ), Dimbach has belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century . The first known documentary mention was made in a document from 1140 found in Waldhausen Abbey. There, the place Dinninpach was named as a richly endowed parish. 1147 Dinninpach was subordinated to the newly founded monastery. Both the Dimbach and the Dimbach settlement derive their name from the family name Dünn, in the 14th century there was talk of the Dumpach and the Dünnpecker parish. In 1420 and 1436 Dimbach was a victim of Hussite attacks .

Dimbach has been part of the Principality of Austria ob der Enns since 1490 . In 1511 Emperor Maximilian I granted the place market rights and in 1572 Emperor Maximilian II granted the right to use a market coat of arms . During the Napoleonic Wars , the Dimbach was occupied several times.

Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After Austria was annexed to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the "Gau Oberdonau". In 1945 Upper Austria was restored. In 1945 Dimbach was briefly in the American zone and from May 9, 1945 to 1955 in the Soviet zone .
