The two chapels of Burg Clam are located inside Burg Clam in the Perg district in Upper Austria .

While the older chapel has not been in use since the 15th century and was only rediscovered and restored in the 20th century, the chapel built at the end of the 15th century has been in continuous use since then.

In addition to ornaments , representations from the Bible and pictures of saints are shown. The paintings were created under the influence of the Bohemian School ( Master of Wittingau ). The frescoes were preserved under a layer of plaster and were restored by Josef Fastl in 1951 .

Andreas Hauser, the owner of Burg Clam at the time, was given a trip to Pope Innocent VI by Duke Rudolf the founder in 1360 . to Avignon the papal authorization with a mass license for the chapel in his castle.

The construction

The castle chapel with the patronage of the finding of the cross is still in use and is located on the 1st floor between the two towers protruding to the east of the Gothic east wing of the castle, which was built between the 14th and 16th centuries above the steep slope to the Klambach . The three-sided floor plan of the chapel, built from 1420 and consecrated in 1491, results from the location between the two towers. The choir of the church was a 1630 Polygonal - oriel with late Gothic lancet windows added. The chapel and choir have ribbed vaults with various keystones (star, rosette, oath hand of God, Lamb of God).

The altar from 1631 was created by the Linz woodcarver Hans Heinz and has a crucifixion group on a pedestal u. a. with the coat of arms of the Clam and Kageneck families . In the antependium are Joseph and Jesus . The left altar figure represents John the Evangelist . To the right of the altar there are almost life-size figures of Peter and Paul from the Schwanthaler workshop. On the southwest wall of the chapel, the red is Adnet marble -made grave monument of Christoph Perger to see to clam the Younger (1530 to 1581).
