The Malay's Dagger is a silent German crime film from 1919 in the Joe Deebs film series . Directed by Leo Lasko . The detective Joe Deebs is portrayed by Carl Auen .
action
This time, Joe Deebs' latest assignment will go to Australia . He is supposed to accompany the young Angelina, who grew up in Europe, to Melbourne , where her mother is seriously ill. You take a cargo ship for the crossing, on which a lustful black man named Jack Johnson is passionate about Angelina. But this is brusquely rejected by her. A little later the cargo ship explodes, and only Deebs, the girl and the black man can escape to an island. Deebs is wondering whether the explosion is a deliberately caused action (sabotage) and who could be behind it. Soon everything will result in a picture. The mother dies and the girl he is accompanying is now the sole heir to a considerable fortune. Is the stepfather behind it, who is in serious financial difficulties?
Meanwhile, Angelina has to fight off the black man's stalkings and then has trouble with the sinister Malay Yschuchur, whom she has chased away on the island for cruelty to animals. One day Angelina lies dead in her bed. Before that, also dead: the Malay and the black. Deebs soon suspects: there is a “third man” who is behind all this. The solution is found after some time: first this "great stranger" murdered Angelina, then the vengeful Malaye must have come along, who had noted her death with satisfaction. When the lustful black came in and saw that the object of his desire was dead and was standing next to the Malay's corpse, there was a life and death struggle in which the Malay was defeated by the black. But in the agony of death, the poison-soaked dagger of the Malay hit Johnson, so that Johnson was also killed. A telegram finally unmasked the great stranger: it is Angelina's stepfather Harold Hastings who wanted to get hold of the fortune through Angelina's death.
