content

“And the sky rips open.
I've always known that we'd meet at some point.
And the rain stops.
Tell me where have you been all my life
Do you feel it beating, moving, everything shaking?
I have so much to tell you.
The sky is clearing up.
And the rain stops. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

The lyrics to Der Himmel riss auf is written in German . The music and the text were written or composed independently by Joel Brandenstein. Musically, the ballad moves in the field of pop music . The tempo is 134 beats per minute . The key is D flat major . The content of the song is about the fact that you should never give up hope of finding true love at some point. Even if it takes a little longer for some people, it is all the more fulfilling when the moment finally comes, says Brandenstein.

The song is built on two verses, a chorus and an outro . The song begins with the first verse, which is sung by Brandenstein. The first verse is followed by a so-called pre-chorus , which consists of only two lines, before the actual chorus follows. The pre-chorus is sung by Brandenstein alone, Mai joins the chorus for the first time. The same process is repeated with the second stanza, this and the subsequent pre-chorus being sung mainly by Mai, Brandenstein contributing as an accompanist. The second chorus is repeated a second time before the song ends with the two-line outro. The outro consists of the last two lines of the chorus: “The sky is tearing open. And the rain stops. "

Reviews

Patrick Kollmer from schlagerplanet.com described Brandenstein's voice as "smoky and honest". He described the voice of Mai as "innocent". This combination works completely, especially in the chorus sung about together, and is convincing because of the different vocal colors.

Yannik Gölz from the German-language online magazine laut.de rated Brandenstein's album Frei with just one of five stars. During his review, he decided that Heaven Tears sounds like the wedding of a distant relative that one would never want to see. Mai sounds uninspired and Brandenstein sounds as he always sounds because he has mastered exactly one way of singing.
