In the Rainbow Tour is the second independent tour of the German pop - pop - singer Vanessa May .

background

General information

The Rainbow Tour was the second independent concert series of Mai as the main act. The tour extended over a period of one and a half months and took May with her accompanying band through 15 German cities. Due to the great demand, an additional date was added in Dresden and Oldenburg so that the tour consisted of 17 concerts. The tour was presented by Bild and Music for Millions. As a concert organizer, Semmel Concerts Entertainment could be won over.

The set consisted of two levels. The upper level was a catwalk with stairs leading down at the ends. An elevator in the middle of the stage ensured that Mai could quickly switch between the two levels. There were five large LCD screens above the catwalk. Mai's band was hidden under the catwalk. Each musician had his own chamber, with two musicians on each side between the elevator. LCD screens were also installed on the walls between the chambers, the elevator door and on the walls behind the musicians.

The box set, the presentation album Regenbogen published in the previous year and the later published new edition ("Gold Edition") were accompanied by 2,500 or 500 so-called "Early Entry Passes", which give the owner and an accompanying person early admission to all concerts of the Rainbow Tour and authorized to participate in the soundcheck .

Accident in Rostock on April 21, 2018

During the stage rehearsals - in the run-up to the planned concert in Rostock on April 21, 2018 - Mai had an accident with one of her dancers. She injured her spine and had to be hospitalized. Mai is said to have lost consciousness after the accident and been artificially ventilated by an emergency doctor . At first it was assumed that corn persistent back pain was the result of the accident. After an examination in a special clinic , the doctors found that corn pain was not the result of the training fall, but was caused by "extreme pressure of the vertebrae on the intervertebral discs from constant, extraordinary loads over weeks and months". Shortly after the incident, Mai said himself as follows: "After my doctors' first diagnosis, I am very happy that this time I got away with what they call a" black eye "". You alone are to blame for the accident. “We should all listen to the signals from our body much more often, because nobody else can hear them! I am really glad it happened. I was always very dogged. The accident was a warning shot and I take it seriously, ”said the singer. In addition to the concert in Rostock, all other press appointments in the following weeks were initially canceled. Although Mai was not fully resilient, the rest of the appointments took place as planned. The stage show and the dance choreographies were adjusted so that they could be mastered for May. Around two months after the accident, Mai appeared for the first time on a TV show, where she revealed in a short interview with Andrea Kiewel on the ZDF TV garden that she was still struggling with the pain. Above all, the doctors' statement that she could no longer dance as she did before the accident was troubling her. However, she doesn't believe that dancing is one of her passions and she keeps fighting.

Other incidents

The concert in the Arena Kreis Düren in Düren was overshadowed by a bomb threat . The perpetrator reported by phone around 5 p.m. According to Mai, the all-clear was given after an hour and the concert took place as planned. She also described her situation in the following words: “I was quite afraid that they would not find anything, but would say that the danger was too great and the concert would have to be canceled. That would have been the worst for me. I really thought it couldn't be true. Why is this happening to me of all people ? ”According to Bild, the security precautions were tightened on Sunday , so the concert was delayed by about 30 minutes. The fans were not told why the delay occurred. It is also not a nice feeling when you sit at a concert and still think about whether something could go off right away, said the singer.

During the concert on May 17, 2018 in the Rosengarten Mozart Hall in Mannheim , Mai was surprised by a fan action in the middle of the concert. At the beginning of the song In all your colors the audience represented a rainbow. This was done with the help of smartphones and small pieces of paper that were held in front of the flashlight. This action was initiated by a Vanessa Mai fan club .

The setlist during Mai's Rainbow Tour consisted of 23 tracks, during the soundcheck Mai already played the two new tracks Mein Sommer and Wiedersehen in front of all fans with an “early entry pass”. The main show consisted of 21 songs and two encores. After eleven songs - after the song miracles are not just in heaven - there was a 15-minute break. The program consisted of a mixture of all four studio albums Mais, with most of the titles the last studio album Rainbow . From this album she presented nine pieces, from the other studio albums she played around three to four songs each. There are also the four new titles Intro , Wiedersehen , Mein Sommer and Damn, I love you . The intro is an opening credits that was newly composed for the tour. Mein Sommer und Wiedersehen are two tracks from the new studio album Schlager , which will be released later in the year. In Hell, I love 'you is a cover version of the original from Matthias Reim that in May only sang during the tour, but so far not appeared on an album.

The concerts began with an intro in which Mai addressed the audience with the following words: “7 colors have light. The music has 7 tones. 7 is a magic number. I can enchant you with 7 tones; and the rainbow enchants us with 7 colors. ”After the pieces Awake Kissed , Unknown Angel and Cloud 7 , Mai gave a short address to the audience. In the midst of the songs there are miracles not only in heaven and I will die for you , Mai introduced her dancers and her accompanying band. During the concerts, Mai presented five different outfits . This was followed by the titles Unknown Angel , Miracles Not Only in Heaven , the Cloud Free Medley and Damn, I Love You Change of Outfit. The short periods of absence in May were mostly bridged with dance interludes. Until her accident in Rostock, a joint contemporary to All of Me with Vadim Garbuzov was part of the show. During the dance, a video with scenes from Mai's wedding from last year was shown on the LCD screens in the background.
