We always two one is a song by German pop - pop - singer Vanessa May , in cooperation with the German- Ukrainian rapper Olexesh . The piece is the first single from their fifth studio album Schlager .
Creation and artwork
The song was written jointly by Felix Gauder, Laura Kloos , Oli Nova, Olexij Kosarev (Olexesh) and Phil Ratey (PzY). The production of We always 2 1 was carried out by Gauder and PZY, Vanessa May acted as executive producer ( Executive Producer ). The mastering took place under the direction of Lex Barkey from Berlin. Gauder programmed the piece together with Nova, PzY and the Titans; Gauder was solely responsible for the mixing. The song was recorded in the jojo music studios in Stuttgart on June 8, 2018. Wir 2 immer 1 was published under the Ariola music label , published by afm Publishing, onetwofour Publishing, Shedler Music and Warner / Chappell and distributed by Sony Music Publishing .
On the cover of the single - in addition to artist names and song titles - Mai and Olexesh can be seen. Mai wears a yellow sports bra with the words "Schlager" on it, camouflage-like trousers and light brown boots and sits in a leather armchair . The first publication of We 2 always 1 was carried out as a single download on July 6, 2018. Olexesh laid the foundation for the collaboration between the two performers. On June 5, 2018, he uploaded a video to his Instagram profile in which he addressed Mai with the following words:
“What's up, Vanessa Mai? You seem like a really correct woman. What do you think if we do a song together? It would be awesome in any case, wouldn't it? People definitely wouldn't expect it and I would definitely be interested. If you feel like it too, then by all means get in touch! "
On the same day, Mai accepted the offer with the following words on her Instagram profile:
"Hey, Olexesh. My mailbox is exploding because everyone is sending me your video. I think the idea really awesome, because I take my album straight up and want anyway with this shit pigeonholing clean and therefore quite honestly: Who the heck we prohibit? I'm really up for it, I'm just recording my album, just drop by the studio and we'll just see what's going on. So I find it very exciting and I think it will be 'magical'. "
Three days later, the two met in the studio and recorded the piece. During the recording, Olexesh addressed his Instagram followers with the following words: “I'm here with Vanessa Mai, doing a great song. The first time rap meets hit. Funky, Music, let yourself be surprised. 2018. “Afterwards, Mai said the following about the collaboration with Olexesh: She likes mixing genres . With Olexesh it was important to her how his attitude is. Both would have had a connection to each other immediately. Mai and Olexesh liked each other straight away, they just found each other. He is also "super polite", "super nice" and "completely correct". They were very surprised when they were in the studio, how creative and fast he works. He is completely free from all the “genre thinking”. That impressed her .
This collaboration with Olexesh is the first duet from May that has been released on phonogram. Before that, she sang numerous duets in television shows, such as Verdammt, Ich liebe 'Dich together with Helene Fischer in her own show in 2017. However, a duet with the participation of Mais has never been published to date.

The lyrics to Wir 2 always 1 are written in German . The music and the text were written jointly by Felix Gauder, Laura Kloos, Oli Nova, Olexij Kosarev (Olexesh) and Phil Ratey (PzY). Musically, the song moves in the realm of pop music and rap . In addition to the main vocals from Mai and the rap from Olexesh, the voices of Suzi Derk, Jenny Marsala and Nova can be heard in the background. The instrumentation was done by Gauder, Nova and Pzy, all of whom can be heard on the keyboard.
The song begins with the first verse that Mai sings. The first verse is followed by the second, which in turn is rapped by Olexesh. Music video
The music video for Wir 2 always 1 was shot in an empty warehouse using the Cinemascope film technology and celebrated its premiere on July 6, 2018 on YouTube . The shooting was under the motto "Schlager meets Rap" and took place on June 20, 2018. The total length of the video is 3:30 minutes. The directors were Ruben Kempter from Fellbach and Jan Wittekindt from Stuttgart , production was carried out by the Stuttgart-based production companies Underpier 27 and Wirschneidgold. To date, the music video has over eight million views on YouTube (as of December 2018). On the day of its release, the video made it to number two on the YouTube trends, We 2 Always 1 only had to admit defeat for all of you by Bushido , Samra and Capital Bra .
At the beginning of the video, Mai and Olexesh are briefly seen standing shoulder-to-shoulder against the backdrop of their “ crew ” and their luxury cars. Based on the "We 2" from the song title, Mai is standing with folded arms on Olexesh's right side, who in turn stretches his right index finger based on the "always 1" to symbolize the one. The opening sequence is followed by scenes in which the two performers can be seen separately from each other. Olexesh is seen rapping in front of him and in a purple lowrider; In one scene he also shows a moonwalk in front of it. - Shortly after the song was released, some fans of Mai were horrified because they believed they had heard words like " cunt " or " puke " , among other things . The Berlin rapper Frauenarzt reported on Twitter , among others , who posted the following tweet: “With the new song by @vanessamai and @ olexesh64, I always understand“ Far too much, too much cunt in my head… ”#sorry”. However, the actual line is "Too many words in my head". - The German radio station bigFM is of the opinion that Wir 2 always 1 contains a lot of hits, but with a large portion of rap as a supplement. The beat moves somewhere between these worlds. Furthermore, Wir 2 was always 1 position in the official download single charts , position 15 in the top 15 German-speaking singles and position 57 in the top 100 music streaming in Germany.
