Schlag den Henssler ( SdH for short ) is a German game show that was produced by Brainpool TV . It was based on the format Schlag den Raab , which was broadcast from 2006 to 2015. Instead of Stefan Raab , Steffen Henssler competed against the candidates. The first issue was broadcast on ProSieben on September 30, 2017 .
The show was produced in the Brainpool Studios in Cologne-Mülheim and broadcast live . One candidate per broadcast competed against Henssler in various disciplines or games and was able to win at least 250,000 euros, provided that he could defeat Henssler in a maximum of 16 games. If Henssler won the show, the amount increased by a further 250,000 euros, which the candidate was able to win in the following show.
On September 25, 2018, ProSieben and Steffen Henssler announced that the latter would withdraw from the show with immediate effect. The announced December edition will no longer be realized in this form; instead, Schlag die Star should be produced again as a Saturday evening show.
Course of the show and rules
In the first two episodes, three potential candidates were presented at the beginning of the broadcast, from which an opponent for Henssler was selected by means of televoting , which is subject to a fee . ProSieben had a time limit of three minutes in which the viewers could vote for a candidate.
In the third episode, the three potential candidates were presented on the website before the broadcast. The candidate was determined by online voting, which ended at 6 p.m. on the day of the broadcast. At the beginning of the broadcast, the chosen candidate was announced and introduced. This procedure should also be used for episode four, but after there were inconsistencies in the online voting, the candidate was selected again by televoting.
From episode five there was a qualifying game between the three challengers, the winner of which then took on Henssler.
The opponents then competed against each other in a maximum of 16 games, with 15 regular games and a jump-off in the event of a tie after 15 games. The opponent who was the first to score at least 61 points won the show. The candidate was able to win at least 250,000 euros. If the candidate lost, the winnings in the following broadcast increased by 250,000 euros. There were also several musical acts in each show.
Games
Henssler and his opponent competed against each other in various disciplines such as sport , knowledge , skill , tactics or luck . The “embarrassing or cashing” quiz, which is totally known from TV, was included in every program.
Two games took place in an outdoor area directly in front of the studio. These were games that required complex structures (ski jump, tower), large playing fields (football, ice hockey) or vehicles such as cars or excavators.
Scoring system
A total of up to 15 games were normally planned. The ascending number of the game corresponded to the number of points to be won. The respective winner received one point in the first game, two points in the second game, etc. The program was considered to have been won if one of the opponents achieved more than half of the total of 120 points, i.e. at least 61 points. If the candidate and Henssler had exactly 60 points each after 15 games, there would have been a "jump-off" as the decider. If a candidate won the first ten games, the 55 points received were not enough for the overall victory, the required number of 61 points was mathematically possible with the eleventh game at the earliest.
Prize amount
In the first edition, 250,000 euros could be won. If Henssler prevailed, the jackpot for the next show increased by a further 250,000 euros. If a candidate won the jackpot, the next edition would again play for 250,000 euros.
Moderators, commentators and referees
The show was moderated by Elton . The individual games were commented on by Elmar Paulke , although he could not be heard in the studio in some cases so as not to influence the game.
In sporting competitions, referees from the respective sport or a related discipline were used. The other games were directed by Elton. For the game Shame or Cash Elton moved traditionally always an eye-catching red jacket , which he previously as a show trainee Raab was combined with purple suit pants and red-checked white shirt when he Shame or Cash in Schlag den Raab and TV total moderated. In the background, the individual games were monitored by a notary .
development
On June 21, 2017 it was announced that Steffen Henssler was moving from VOX to ProSieben . At the Screenforce Days , ProSieben announced that a new edition of Schlag den Raab under the title Schlag den Henssler was planned from September 2nd .
Daniel Rosemann , head of ProSieben's broadcaster, justified the new edition of Schlag den Raab by saying that “the audience would have always wanted the show to come back”. Regarding the choice of Steffen Henssler as the new host, Rosemann said that Henssler was "a sympathetic and at the same time strong-willed player who takes on every challenge". Furthermore, Henssler has "this special, unconditional ambition to be able to survive on this show."
Henssler took part in Schlag den Star as a prominent candidate in 2012 and 2014 . In 2012 he won against the candidate, while in 2014 he lost to Joey Kelly .

Special occurrences
- In the run-up to the first issue, Henssler suffered a torn muscle fiber . The show was therefore postponed from September 2 to September 30, 2017.
- In the second edition of November 4, 2017, there was a technical problem with the second game "Remember Things", which is why a commercial break was put in at short notice. After Henssler had buzzed over the sample image to explain the course of the game, the image was hidden on the players' desks, but not on the large screens in the studio.
- In the eighth edition of September 22, 2018, Elton bet with Henssler for his victory on the show. Should Henssler win, Elton would jump into the water basin used in game 4 ("Water Race") at the end of the program. Henssler won the show with the 14th game. While the closing music could already be heard in the background, Elton - still wearing a jacket - paid off his betting debts. As a result, the picture summary of the program was shorter than usual.
