Detlev Fröhlich

Detlev Fröhlich (born June 12, 1953 in Berleburg ) is a German doctor and medical officer with the rank of General Staff Doctor a. D. His last position was from October 1, 2012 to June 12, 2014, in charge of health facilities in the Bundeswehr Medical Service in Koblenz .

Life

In 1971, after graduating from high school in his hometown, Detlev Fröhlich joined the German Army as a temporary soldier with the tank pioneers . In the following year, when he switched to the Luftwaffe , he was accepted as a medical officer candidate and began studying medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg . During his studies he was promoted to lieutenant in 1976 . In 1978 he completed his academic training with a license to practice medicine and in the same year was appointed medical officer and taken on as a professional soldier . His first use in the troop took him as a medical officer for the sanitary unit of the III. Battalion of the Air Force Training Regiment  3 in Roth . He was then transferred to Jagdbombergeschwader 41 in Husum , where he initially served as an aviation doctor from 1980 and then from 1983 to 1987 he was the squadron chief of the air force medical squadron in this association. In 1980 Fröhlich was appointed Surgeon , 1983 Oberfeldarzt appointed.

In 1987 he became head of the department of aviation medicine, military hygiene and medical operational safety at the general doctor of the air force in Heide (Lohmar) , before he changed as a consultant for the inspection of medical and health services (InSan) II 2 of the BMVg in 1988 . In 1995 Fröhlich was transferred to Remagen , where he headed the Institute for Military Medical Statistics and Reporting until 1999. During this use, he was promoted to senior physician . He then returned to Bonn and became Head of Department IV (IT / MedInformatik) in the Bundeswehr Medical Office. In 2001 he took over the task of head of the deployment staff / G3 of the Bundeswehr Medical Center in Munich , which was to be newly established as part of the restructuring of the Bundeswehr . After this activity, he took over the post of Head of Department III (organization, quality management, controlling) of the newly established medical services office in Bonn and Munich in the same year.

In 2003 he  returned to Bonn as Head of FüSan II 2. During this assignment, Fröhlich completed an international assignment from May to August 2005 as a medical advisor at the EUFOR headquarters in Butmir / Sarajevo . Back in Germany in 2005 he took over the post of deputy head of office and chief of staff at the Bundeswehr Medical Service in Munich, before he was transferred to Bonn again the following year, where he was appointed head of the FüSan II staff department. In 2006 Fröhlich was appointed general doctor. From December 2007 to August 2009 he was head of the Bundeswehr Medical Service. When this post was taken on, he was promoted to general staff doctor. After handing over the official business of the head of the office to General Doctor Jürgen Dick , Fröhlich was appointed to the Inspector of the Medical Service of the Bundeswehr as a representative for matters relating to the transformation of the medical service.

On September 21, 2011, he took over the post of Deputy Commander of the Sanitary Command from Ingo Patschke . Since the position of the commander of the medical command command had not been filled since April 2011 and was not filled due to the upcoming restructuring as part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr , Fröhlich led this command. With the effectiveness of the first restructuring measures, Fröhlich was appointed commander of health facilities in the medical service command on October 1, 2012. He was released from this office on June 12, 2014 and handed it over to his successor, General Staff Doctor Michael Tempel . Fröhlich has been retired since July 1, 2014.
