The rice battle
The rice battle (French: La Bataille du riz ) is an album from the Lucky Luke comic series . It was drawn by Morris and written by René Goscinny .
The volume is a collection of short stories first published in 1968 and 1969 in the Super Pocket Pilote paperback series . The stories have been enlarged for the album.

- Every beginning is difficult : A young greenhorn wants to become a famous desperado, when he tries to mess with Lucky Luke, he is kicked out of the saloon.
- For the love of music : Lucky Luke and Jolly Jumper help a saloon owner to get his long-awaited mechanical piano safe to his town.
- Stroll through the city : Lucky Luke fights a cattle thief and visits numerous institutions of the city in this way. Finally, the cattle thief can be turned over to prison.
- The rice battle : In the town of Nothing Gulch, two Chinese restaurant owners fight for supremacy. When the whole place is finally in turmoil, the two Chinese decide to run a restaurant together. However, a new competitor now appears: a Japanese.

The stories were first published in Super Pocket Pilote , the paperback series of Pilote magazine , in 1968 and 1969 . In 1972 there was a free album for customers of the Total petrol station chain.
In Germany, the stories appeared in 1973 in the Zack Parade paperback series , in 1983 in the small-format 16/22 anthology Nothing goes without Lucky Luke at Carlsen, and in 2005 as a large-format album at Egmont Ehapa Media as volume 78.
The story The rice battle was filmed in 1991 for the Lucky Luke animated series.
