Jesse James (Lucky Luke)

Jesse James is a Lucky Luke comic bookwrittenby René Goscinny andillustratedby Morris . It is based on the true story of Jesse James (1847-1882). In addition to Jesse James, his brother Frank , Cole Younger and Cosmo Smith and Fletcher Jones, two Pinkerton detectives, are shown. The naive detectives are reminiscent of the clumsy police officers Dupont and Dupond (German: Schulze and Schultze) from Tintin .

In 1880, the story begins with Jesse James idolizing and trying to copy Robin Hood , but somehow unable to clearly define the line between the rich he is supposed to rob and the poor he is supposed to help. With the help of his Shakespeare lover brother Frank, he simply redefines the term "poor" for his own benefit, and together with Cole Younger the two begin to rob trains en masse, forcing Lucky Luke to undress and her with the help of two somewhat incapable Stop Pinkerton Detectives. After the initially unwilling residents of Nothing Gulch are motivated again, Jesse James and his gang are chased out of Texas.

The story was first printed in 1969 in Pilote and then as an album by Dargaud . In 1974 the album was released in Germany as ZACK album No. 4 as Lucky Luke and the avenger of the disinherited . Since 1983 the band has been published by Egmont Ehapa Media as No. 38 in the series.

The story was filmed for the Lucky Luke animated series in 1984 .
