The beautiful wedding is a French relationship drama directed by Éric Rohmer from 1982.

action

Sabine is about to graduate from university in art history and decides to change her life. She no longer feels like having relationships with married men and ends her affair with painter Simon. She decides to get married and to depend on the husband's money even if she doesn't know who that husband will be. Still, she shares her plan with her best friend Clarisse and her former boyfriend Claude. In addition to her private life, she is also increasingly questioning her job, not particularly fond of her job as an employee in Maryse's antique shop. She sees herself more as an artistic type and admires Clarisse, who earns her living, among other things, by painting lampshades.

Reluctantly, Sabine comes as a guest to Clarisse's brother's wedding. Here Clarisse introduces her to her cousin Edmond, who works as a lawyer in Paris. Both are fond of each other, but Edmond is called to an appointment and leaves the party after a few minutes. Nevertheless, Sabine believes she has found the man in Edmond whom she will marry one day. The longer she doesn't see him again, the more certain she becomes about her feelings for Edmond.

She knows that he is looking for a certain type of vase and arranges for him a purchase that her boss actually wanted to make. During the meal that follows, Sabine talks too much, which initially both amuses and irritates Edmond. In the near future he telephoned to repel her attempts to meet him in Paris. In turn, she quits her job when Maryse confronts her about selling vases. Sabine invites Edmond over for her birthday and almost collapses when it seems he won't be over. When he arrives late, Sabine pulls him into her room after a short time and takes him by surprise with her direct and hasty manner. He leaves the party in a hurry and lets his secretary deny him over the phone for the next time. Sabine finally visits him in Paris and they both speak out. Edmond explains that while he finds her attractive, he doesn't love her. In addition, he wants to go ahead in a relationship or at least be on par with his partner's views. Sabine leaves his practice angry, but calmed down a short time later. In front of Clarisse, she realizes that there are more men. On her next train ride to Paris, she finally begins to flirt with a passenger.
