Dieter Ranspach

Dieter Max Arnold Martin Ranspach (born June 14, 1926 in Berlin-Schöneberg ; † October 31, 2017 in Berlin ) was a German actor , Berlin state actor and voice actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, the son of a publishing clerk attended the acting school of the Hebbel Theater in Berlin, where he made his stage debut in 1947 in the comedy Sophienlund by Helmut Weiß and Fritz von Woedtke . In the following years he played at numerous theaters in Berlin, initially in the role of a young lover and bon vivant , and later as a character actor. From 1954 Dieter Ranspach was a member of the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin . In 1971 he was named Berlin State Actor for his artistic merits .

In 1953 Dieter Ranspach made his feature film debut in the fairy tale production The Princess and the Pig shepherd . In many sources his name is incorrectly stated as a participant in this film with Dieter Ansbach . His few film and television appearances include the crime series Wanted is Murderer X , the television play The False Noses based on Jean-Paul Sartre , the Goethe production Clavigo and the comedy Is Mama Not Fabulous? based on a template by Barbara Noack . He often played under the direction of Peter Beauvais .

His dubbing work became known to a wide audience. With his high and distinguished manner of speaking he often synchronized pedantic and slightly snobbish characters and lent his voice and the like. a. John Mahoney (in Suspect ), Jonathan Cecil (as Captain Hastings in several Agatha Christie film adaptations with Peter Ustinov as Hercule Poirot ), James Fox (in The Servant ), Helmut Berger (in The Godfather - Part III ), Ian McDiarmid (in Gorky Park ) and lawyer Douglas Brackman ( Alan Rachins ) in the American television series L.A. Law .

In addition, Ranspach worked extensively from 1948 as a speaker for radio broadcasts at the RIAS and the NWDR .

Ranspach was buried in the old churchyard in Schöneberg, grave site UN 3-3-7 / 8.
