The Huayllati district is located in the Grau Province in the Apurímac region in central southern Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of ​​124 km². The 2017 census counted 1437 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2471, in 2007 it was 1830. The district administration is located in the 3481  m high village of Huayllati with 370 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huayllati is 31 km east-northeast of the provincial capital Chuquibambilla .

Geographical location

The district of Huayllati is located in the Andean highlands on the right bank of the northeast flowing Río Vilcabamba in the northeast of the province of Grau.

The Huayllati district borders in the southwest on the Curpahuasi district , in the northwest on the Gamarra district , in the east on the Coyllurqui district ( Cotabambas province ) and in the south on the Progreso district .
