The district of Santa Rosa is located in the province of Grau in the Apurímac region in the central south of Peru . The district was established on June 14, 1990. It extends over an area of ​​31 km². The 2017 census counted 593 residents. In 1993 the population was 819, in 2007 it was 712. The district administration is located in the 3550  m high town of Santa Rosa with 256 inhabitants (as of 2017). Santa Rosa is 6.5 km southeast of the provincial capital Chuquibambilla .

Geographical location

The district of Santa Rosa is located in the Andean highlands on the left bank of the north-flowing Río Vilcabamba in the center of the province of Grau.

The Santa Rosa district is bordered to the west by the district Chuquibambilla , on the north by the district of Vilcabamba , the east by the district Micaela Bastidas and to the south by the district Pataypampa .
