The Villa Kintiarina district is located in the La Convención province of the Cusco region in south-central Peru . The district was founded on October 14, 2015 from parts of the Kimbiri district . It has an area of ​​199 km². At the 2017 census, there were 1974 residents in the district. The district administration is located in the village of Villa Kintiarina on the east bank of the Río Apurímac with 529 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The Villa Kintiarina district is located in the south-west of the La Convención province. The district extends for a length of about 20 km along the east bank of the Río Apurímac. The maximum district width is just under 15 km. In the east, the district boundary runs along the watershed of the Cordillera Vilcabamba , which there reaches heights of 3000  m . The Apurímac river valley lies at an altitude of about 700  m .

The district of Villa Kintiarina borders in the north with the district Kimbiri, in the east with the district Echarati and in the south with the district Villa Virgen . To the west, on the opposite bank of the Río Apurímac, are the districts of Anco and Anchihuay (both in the province of La Mar in the Ayacucho region ).
