The Dmytro-Jawornyzkyj brochure ( Ukrainian Проспект Дмитра Яворницького brochure Dmytra Jawornyzkogo , Russian Проспект Дмитрия Яворницкого brochure Dmitrija Jawornizkogo ) in Dnipro is the main street as well as significant avenue of Oblastzentrums. Important administrative as well as cultural institutions are located here. The approximately five-kilometer-long street is named after the Ukrainian ethnographer , historian and lexicographer Dmytro Jawornyzkyj .

Until 2016, the street was called Karl-Marx-Prospekt for a total of 84 years , after Karl Marx , until it was renamed by Mayor Borys Filatow on February 19, 2016 in accordance with the “ Law on the Prohibition of Communist and National Socialist Propaganda ” .

The prospectus stretches from the Monument of Eternal Glory (Ukrainian Памя'ятник “Вічної Славі” , Russian Монумент “Вечной Славы” ) and ends five kilometers further at Dnipro Central Station .

Sobor district

Below is a description of the part of Dmytro-Jawornyzky Prospect that belongs to the Sobor district.

After the Monument of Eternal Glory , on the (eastern) side facing the Dnieper, there is the Mechnikov Hospital (Ukrainian Обласна клінічна лікарня ім. Мечникова ) in honor of the Nobel Prize winner Ilya Mechnikov .

At the intersection of Dmytro-Jawornyzky-Prospect and Gagarin-Prospect stands the tank monument in honor of Yefim Grigoryevich Pushkin (Russian: Ефим Григорьевич Пушкин ), simply called "Tank" by the inhabitants and a popular meeting place.

Subsequently, there is the Historical Museum Dnipro km² with the adjoining 120,000 large October Square with it befindlicher Transfiguration and the diorama to the Battle of the Dnieper . Opposite the museum, on the other side of the street, is the oldest higher education institution in the city, which opened in 1899 , the National Mining University of Ukraine with 12,000 students.

Next up is the Academy of Customs Service of Ukraine and, a little away from the prospect, the State Medical Academy of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Faculties of Geology , Economics and Applied Mathematics of the Oles Honchar National University .

Shevchenko Raion

The following is a description of the part of the Dmytro-Jawornyzky-Prospect which belongs to the Stadtrajon Shevchenko .

The Maidan's Heroes Square in the city center includes the “Passage” shopping center , the Central Department Store (Ukrainian Центра́льний універса́льний магази́н , Russian Центральный иниверсальнаый универсальнаый Ukraine ) and the Grand Hotel Ukraine.

At the intersection with Lenin Street is the branch of the National Bank of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, as well as the Governor's House , an architectural monument of national importance and built in the late 1830s, and the Dnipro City Council .

Central Rajon

The following is a description of the part of Dmytro-Jawornyzky-Prospect which belongs to Stadtrajon Central .

After crossing Andrija Fabra (formerly Serova) is the state-Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet (Ukrainian Дніпропетровський державний академічний театр опери та балету ), the Academic Russian dramatic Gorki Theater (Ukrainian, officially Дніпропетровський академічний театр російської драми імені Максима Горького ) and the Catholic St. Joseph's Church (ukrainian Римо-католицька церква Святого Йосипа ) and the trade union house (ukrainian Будинок Рад , russian Дом Союзов ).

Lasar-Hloba Park and a bit away from the Statistical Office of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (Ukrainian Головне управління статистики у Дніпропетровській області ), the German Evangelical Lutheran St. Catherine's Church (Ukrainian Німецька євангельсько-лютеранська церква Святої Катерини , Russian Немецкая Евангелическо-Лютеранская церковь св .Екатерины ).

Behind the Lasar-Hloba-Park stretches the city marketplace Osjorka , which is connected to the main train station on the other side of the street.
