Until 2014, the administrative offices were still referred to as sub-districts . Before the 2015 territorial reform, Dom Aleixo had an area of 33.12 km². Now it is 25.93 km².

In the east is the Vera Cruz administrative office , in the west the municipality Liquiçá with the administrative office Bazartete and in the south Dom Aleixo touches the municipality Aileu with the administrative office Laulara with a tip . To the north is the Strait of Wetar . Here the Rio Comoro flows into the sea. However, the river only carries water during the rainy season. Lake Tibar , one of the few larger lakes in East Timor, is located near the western border . There are three small salt lakes in Tasitolu , which are fed by Mota Tasitolu in the rainy season . They are a designated Important Bird Area and under special protection as a Peace Park. Also in Tasitolu is a six-meter-high monumental statue of Pope John Paul II. The Maloa forms the border to Vera Cruz in the northeast . Between Maloa and Rio Comoro, a third temporary river flows into the sea in Dom Aleixo.

The Office of Administration Dom Aleixo divided since 2017 into seven Sucos : Bairro Pite ( Bairo Pite ) Bebonuk , Comoro , Fatuhada , Kampung Alor , Madohi and Manleuana . All sucos are classified as urban.
