A Romanesque hall church with a retracted choir tower in the east was built in 1200. To the north of the choir , a groin-vaulted extension with a piscina in an ogival wall niche was built in 1516 . Around 1766 the nave was redesigned in Baroque style and received a mansard roof with dormer windows . The tower was given an eight - sided slate - covered storey in which the bell cage is located. The tower is covered with a hood on which a lantern sits, which is crowned by a tower ball . The nave has two-story galleries and is covered with a wooden barrel vault. The choir has a cross-ribbed vault with bulging ribs . There is a winged altar from 1505/06 from the Saalfeld school . In the shrine under filigree veil boards in front of a punched gold background there are carved figures, in the center a crescent moon Madonna , flanked by St. Nicholas , St. Catherine , St. Barbara and St. Martin . In each wing there are three more figures of saints. In the predella there is a panel with portraits of Jesus Christ and the twelve apostles . There is a carved crucifixion group in the small burst . When closed, panels of the Annunciation and the birth of Christ can be seen. The pulpit from the 2nd half of the 18th century is decorated with rococo decorations. The organ with twelve registers , divided into a manual and a pedal , was built around 1820 by an unknown organ builder .
