The Dornautalsperre (also: Dam Dornau, Dornauer dam or Lech barrage 6 ) is Schongau in Weilheim-Schongau in Bavaria at Lech and belonged to the Bayernwerk (Bavarian hydropower plants), today Uniper Kraftwerke GmbH . The reservoir is crossed by federal highways 17 and 472 on the Lechtal bridge Schongau .
purpose

The dam , which was built from 1958 to 1960, is used to generate electricity from hydropower, flood protection , low water elevation and local recreation. Of the total storage space (24 million m³) there are 3.6 million flood protection rooms , 6.1 million operating rooms, 12.3 million reserve rooms and 2 million dead spaces.
The expansion capacity of the hydropower plant is 22.2 MW. An average of 101.2 GWh of electricity is generated each year.
dam
The dam is a gravel embankment with a clay core seal. It was built in less than a year in 1959. That same year, the dam was no sample storage dammed up to the water level. With all the preparatory work and ancillary facilities, the construction period extended from 1958 to 1960. The Dornau Dam is also known as the bottleneck because it is only a little wider than the Lech.
Flood relief
The dam has several options for flood relief . There is a siphon system with a capacity of 287 m³ / s, depth drains with 495 m³ / s (together 782 m³ / s), bottom drains with 450 m³ / s and the turbines , through which a maximum of 120 m³ / s can be delivered. This is a total of 1352 m³ / s.
