The Lechstaustufe 18 - Buy ring is a barrage of Lech between Landsberg am Lech and Augsburg , on the river 76.9 kilometers in the field of market town Kaufering in the district of Landsberg am Lech .

The operator of the run- of -river power plant is Uniper Kraftwerke , the generated output is 16.7 MW with a head of 13.3 m with the help of three Kaplan turbines .

The power plant has been in operation since 1975 and is listed as BNA1169 in the power plant list of the Federal Network Agency .

The electricity generated is fed into the Bayernwerk AG network by an on-site switchgear .

The expansion flow of the power plant is 142.5 m³ / s, the standard energy capacity 80,040 MWh per year.

In 2015, a fish ladder was finally built for 2.2 million euros .

Reservoir

The reservoir to the south is around 2.4 km long and 0.6 km wide, it covers around 75 hectares. To the east is the Lechleite , which is around 30 m high , and the Lechfeld extends to the west . At the southern end of the reservoir is the Kaufering market .

The lake is also used for local recreation and by a fishing club .

South of the reservoir there is one of the few relatively free flowing stretches of the Lech up to Lech barrage 15 - Landsberg .
