Dubová (until 1927 in Slovak "Dubové" or "Dubova"; German rarely Wernersdorf , Hungarian Cserfalu - until 1907 Dubova ) is a municipality in Bratislavský kraj in western Slovakia .
geography
The place is located in the Danube lowlands by the Žlabka brook, at the foot of the Little Carpathians under Mount Kukla in the northwest ( 564 m nm ). Dubová is 4 km from Modra , 24 km from Trnava and 32 km from Bratislava .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1287 as Dumbó ; occasionally the year 1113 is also spoken of, but this is now considered incorrect. Since the 16th century it belonged to the estate of Rotenstein Castle . In 1549 it was burned down during Turkish invasions and was not settled again until 1590. The community was known from the beginning for the viticulture , besides the inhabitants deal with lime and charcoal burning.
Until 1918 the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia , or today Slovakia.
