Píla (until 1927 also "Píly" in Slovak; German Sägmühl , Hungarian Gidrafürész - until 1907 Pila ) is a small community in Bratislavský kraj in western Slovakia .
geography
The place is located in the Little Carpathians on the Gidra River below the Kukla Mountain in the southwest ( 564 m nm ) and Červený Kameň Castle in the northeast and lies within the Small Carpathian Protected Landscape Area. In terms of area (0.48 km²) and population (2009: 306 inhabitants), it is the smallest municipality in the Okres Pezinok . After Bratislava is 38 km, Trnava 25 km away.
history
The place was established in the 16th century when the owners of the Rotenstein Castle (Červený Kameň), the Fugger family, had two sawmills built in the valley of the Gidra River. The place was mentioned in 1602 as Vyffalu sub arce Weöreöskw ( i.e. Neudorf below the Rotenstein Castle). The current name has been used since the 18th century. There was a glassworks here in the 17th century, a paper mill from the 17th century to 1880, and a few mills until the 20th century. The last sawmills were closed in 1950.
In 1944 it was incorporated into the neighboring municipality of Častá , but has been independent again since 1954.
On June 7, 2011, the community was badly hit by a flash flood : 60 houses and infrastructure as well as bridges in the village and on the main road between Dubová and Častá were destroyed or badly damaged.
