Dustin Penner (born September 28, 1982 in Winkler , Manitoba ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 668 games for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Anaheim Ducks , Edmonton Oilers , Los Angeles Kings during his active career between 2003 and 2014 and Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League on the left winger position . Career
The 1.94 m tall striker began his career in the team of the University of Maine in the league operation of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , after good performances in the 2003/04 season, which were also associated with an election to the NCAA All-Tournament Team , the Left shooter signed up as a free agent for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 2004 .
First he was on the ice for the Anaheim farm team , the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and, from the 2005/06 season, the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League . The Canadian also sniffed the first NHL air this season . From the 2006/07 season Penner was permanently part of the NHL regular squad of the Anaheim Ducks, with whom he won the Stanley Cup in the same year, due to his good performance .
As of July 1, 2007, Penner became a restricted free agent and his rights were still held by the Anaheim Ducks. He caused a stir in late July when he received an offer from the Edmonton Oilers , a so-called offer sheet , for a five-year contract for $ 21.5 million, which rarely happens in the NHL. The Anaheim Ducks decided not to go along, which is why Penner switched to the Oilers.
After nearly four years in Edmonton, he was on February 28, 2011 in a transfer deal in exchange for defense attorney Colten Teubert , as well as two options in the NHL Entry Draft (first-round vote in 2011 and a performance-related second-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft 2012) to the Los Angeles Kings handed in. With the Los Angeles Kings, the Canadian won his second Stanley Cup in 2012 . In July 2013, Penner signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks transferred him to the Washington Capitals ahead of the March 4, 2014 trade deadline . His contract there was not renewed after the end of the 2013/14 season. Then he ended his active career.
