Edward Arnet Johnson (born May 1, 1959 in Chicago , Illinois ) is a retired American basketball player who was active for most of his career in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Career

Johnson started his NBA career with the Kansas City Kings , who selected him 29th in the 1981 NBA Draft . For the Kings, who are based in Sacramento from 1985, played six years, from the second season he was a regular player and top scorer of the team for four years. In the 1983/84 and 1984/85 seasons he achieved the best values ​​of his entire career with 21.9 and 22.9 points per game.

Before the 1987/88 season, he moved to the Phoenix Suns . There he lost his status as a starter after one season, winning the Sixth Man of the Year Award in the 1988/89 season . In the 1990/91 season he moved to the Seattle SuperSonics , for the 1993/94 season then to the Charlotte Hornets . The next season Johnson went to the Greek team Olympiacos , won the national championship and reached the final of the ULEB Euroleague . After a year he returned to the NBA and played for the Indiana Pacers . In the 1996/97 season he moved to the Houston Rockets , where he ended his career in 1999.

With a total of 19,202 points, Johnson is one of the 50 most successful scorers in NBA history . Nevertheless, he was never elected an All-Star and was never appointed to an All-NBA team .
