Career

Robinson's most successful time was with the Portland Trail Blazers . In NBA Draft selected only at position 36, he quickly developed into an important player for the team. For eight years, the Trail Blazers reached the play-offs every year, in 1990 and 1992 even the finals. Robinson won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1993 for best substitute player. The following year he was nominated for the NBA All-Star Game and was a 20-point scorer for the Blazers for several years. In 1997 he moved to the Phoenix Suns . On January 16, 2000, he scored 50 points in a game against the Denver Nuggets . After two years with the Detroit Pistons as a starter, he played in smaller roles for the Golden State Warriors and New Jersey Nets . In 2000 and 2002 he was elected to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team . Robinson completed a total of 1,380 NBA games in his career (currently 13th in the NBA).

Robinson was considered during his NBA career as the prototype of a long forward that could hit throws from outside. He was the first player with a height of 2.08 m or longer to exceed 1,000 three-point hits. He was later surpassed by Dirk Nowitzki , among others .
