Wardell Stephen "Dell" Curry (born June 25, 1964 in Harrisonburg , Virginia ) is a retired American basketball player who played in the NBA between 1986 and 2002 .
NBA
Curry began his career with the Utah Jazz . After spending another year with the Cleveland Cavaliers , he was hired by the newly formed Charlotte Hornets in the Expansion Draft . During his time with the Hornets, Curry was considered one of the best bankers and most dangerous long-range shooters in the league. In 1994 he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award . Coming off the bench, Curry scored an average of 16.3 points, which is also the highest point average of his career. After ten years he left the Hornets and moved to the Milwaukee Bucks for one season . Curry played with the Toronto Raptors for the last three years of his career before retiring.
In his NBA career, Curry scored 11.7 points per game, hitting 40.2% of his three-throwers.
After his career, Curry worked as a co-commentator on the Charlotte Bobcats and later the Hornets games.
Private
Dell Curry is married and has three children. His eldest son Stephen Curry was signed by the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft and won the League's Most Valuable Player Awards ( MVP ) in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons and the NBA awards in 2015, 2017 and 2018. Championship. Steph Curry is also a multiple all-star. Dell's youngest son, Seth, played for the Duke University basketball team but was not included in the 2013 NBA draft . He now plays in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks . Curry's daughter Sydel played volleyball like her mother in college . She is married to Damion Lee of the Golden State Warriors.
