Corliss Mondari Williamson (born December 4, 1973 in Russellville , Arkansas ) is a retired American basketball player and current coach. In 2002 Williamson was named NBA Sixth Man of the Year .

NBA

After three years at the University of Arkansas , with whom he won the NCAA championship in 1994 , Williamson was selected in the 1995 NBA draft in 13th place by the Sacramento Kings . At the beginning of his career, Williamson came out of the bank. In the 1997/98 season he established himself as a starter for the Kings and scored his best season with 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. In the election for the most improved player of the season, he was second behind Alan Henderson .

In the summer of 2000 he was transferred to the Toronto Raptors for Doug Christie . In 2001 he was then transferred to the Detroit Pistons . Here he won the Best Sixth Man of the Year in 2002 as the best banker of the season. In 2004 he won the NBA championship with the Pistons.

After playing for the Philadelphia 76ers for a year , he was traded back to Sacramento for Chris Webber along with Kenny Thomas and Brian Skinner . Here he spent the last two years before retiring from professional sports.

Coaching career

After his career, Williamson worked as a coach and assistant coach for Arkansas Baptist College . In 2010 he took over the team at the University of Central Arkansas . In 2013 he became an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings.

Since 2016 he has been the assistant coach at Orlando Magic .
