Bobby Jackson (born March 13, 1973 , in Salisbury , North Carolina ) is a retired American basketball player . Jackson played in the NBA for a total of 12 years . In 2003 he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award .

NBA

Jackson was selected in the 1997 NBA draft in 23rd place by the Seattle SuperSonics and then transferred to the Denver Nuggets . In the Nuggets, Jackson started in 53 of 68 games and scored 11.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team .

After his rookie season, Jackson was transferred to the Minnesota Timberwolves . After two years with the Wolves, he moved to the Sacramento Kings . Here Jackson had his prime, averaging 12 points per game over five years. He also won the 2003 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award for best banker in the league.

Jackson played for the Memphis Grizzlies , Houston Rockets and New Orleans Hornets for the past few years before returning to the Kings in 2008.

On October 24, 2009, Jackson announced his resignation.

Coaching career

In the fall of 2011, Jackson became an assistant coach with the Kings. In the summer of 2013, Jackson left the Kings and joined the Timberwolves coaching staff.
