Seth Adham Curry (born August 23, 1990 in Charlotte , North Carolina ) is an American basketball player who plays for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA on the position of shooting guard . He is the son of former NBA player Dell Curry and the younger brother of two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry . Similar to his father and brother, Curry is considered a very good three-point shooter.

college

Liberty University

Seth Curry played for Liberty University during his freshman season, averaging 20.2 points per game. After a year at Liberty University, he moved to Duke University .

Duke University

After Curry moved to Duke University, he had to skip his sophomore season. He played three more years for the Duke Blue Devils before he went to the NBA draft . In his last senior year, Curry had an average of 17.5 points.

Professional career

2013/14

In NBA Draft 2013 Curry was not considered. He was then signed by the Golden State Warriors , but before he was released. After he played with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the D-League and stood out for his good performance, he was briefly appointed to the NBA by the Memphis Grizzlies and the Cleveland Cavaliers . Curry was also chosen for his achievements in the D-League in the All-Star Game of this farm team - Minor League .

2014/15

Before the 2014/15 season, Curry was signed by Orlando Magic, but released before the start of the season. He then played for the Erie BayHawks , the D-League team of Magic. He was elected to the D-League All-Star Team for the second time in the 2014/15 season. While Brandon Knight was injured , he was signed by the Phoenix Suns for 10 days.

Since 2015

During the 2015/16 off-season he played for the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas . He then signed a contract with the Sacramento Kings . In the first few months of the season he only played occasionally from the bench. In March and April, however, when it became clear that the Kings no longer had a chance of reaching the postseason , Curry was allowed to play more, including nine games in the starting five . In these nine games he averaged 14.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 29.9 minutes. He also hit 45% of his three-point throws over the entire season. His best game was on April 11, beating the Phoenix Suns , when he scored 20 points and 15 assists.

After his contract with the Kings expired in the summer of 2016, Curry moved to the Dallas Mavericks and signed a contract that ran until 2018. After 2 years as a backup with the Mavericks, Curry signed a two-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers in the summer of 2018 .

Seth Curry is the son of former basketball player Dell Curry , who was active in the NBA for 16 years during his career. His older brother Stephen is a four-time NBA All-Star , a two-time MVP, and a three-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors . Like his father and brother, Curry wore the number 30 on his back for a long time. Since joining the Blazers, he has worn the number 31, as the number 30 was banned in honor of Terry Porter and Bob Gross .
