Alfonso Clark "Trey" Burke III (born November 12, 1992 in Columbus , Ohio ) is an American basketball player who is active in the North American professional league NBA for the Dallas Mavericks .

college

Burke played for the University of Michigan for two years . In his freshman season, he was named Freshman of the Year at the Big 12 Conference. In his sophomore year, Burke led his Wolverines to the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship finals, where they lost to the University of Louisville . Burke was named the best player of his conference for his achievements. He was also honored with the National Player of the Year Award, as best college player and appointed to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. Burke finished his second year with 18.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game.

NBA career

In the 2013 NBA draft , Burke was selected in 9th place by the Minnesota Timberwolves and shortly thereafter transferred to the Utah Jazz for the rights to Shabazz Muhammad and Gorgui Dieng .

During the preparation phase for the 2013/14 season, Burke suffered a broken finger and missed the first week of the new season. In November 2013 he made his debut in the loss to the New Orleans Pelicans and scored 11 points in 12 minutes of play. When he beat Orlando Magic in December 2013, Burke achieved a career record with 30 points. In addition, he distributed 8 assists and got 7 rebounds. Burke won the Western Conference Rookie of the Month award for December, making him the first jazz player to do so since Karl Malone in 1985. He was also named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for January and April .

At the 2014 NBA All-Star Weekend , Burke took part in the Rising Star Challenge . He also took part in the NBA All-Star Weekend Skills Challenge with Damian Lillard and won it. On the last day of the game, Burke scored a career record with a 136: 130 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, with 32 points. In the poll for Rookie of the Year , Burke finished in third place behind Michael Carter-Williams and Victor Oladipo . He was also elected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team .

In his sophomore year, Burke played very inconsistently. In the course of the season he was pushed out of the starting grid by rookie Dante Exum and from then on he came off the bench as the “ sixth man ”. The third year was also a difficult year. Despite Dante Exum's loss of the season, Burke had to submit to Raul Neto . After the Utah Jazz signed Shelvin Mack in the middle of the season , Burke finally fell out of rotation and was no longer used for the last season games by coach Quin Snyder .

In the summer of 2016, Burke was given a future second-round draft pick to the Washington Wizards . After the Wizards signed Brandon Jennings in the middle of the season, Burke dropped out of rotation. At the Wizards, Burke was able to raise his odds again and hit 45% of his field and three-point throws, but remained far below expectations with only 5.0 points per game.

At the end of the season, his contract with the Wizards was not renewed and he signed with the Westchester Knicks in the G-League after he could not recommend himself for the NBA. In the G-League he impressed with the Knicks with an average of over 26 points and was voted Player of the Month in December. Shortly thereafter, Burke was signed by the New York Knicks . In January 2019, Burke was traded to the Dallas Mavericks .

In April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic , Burke said on Instagram : "Fuck vaccinations !" They are an attempt to kill people. He also wrote of radio chips that were "ready for implementation".
