Timothy "Tim" Duane Hardaway Jr. (born March 16, 1992 in Miami , Florida ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA .

Hardaway's father, Tim Hardaway , also played in the NBA between 1989 and 2003 and was a five-time NBA All-Star .

Career

college

Hardaway played for the University of Michigan for three years . At the side of Trey Burke and Nik Stauskas , he reached the NCAA finals in 2013 , but where the University of Louisville had to admit defeat.

NBA

In the 2013 NBA draft , he was selected in 24th place by the New York Knicks . Hardaway scored 10.2 points per game in his freshman year and was called up to the NBA All-Rookie First Team at the end of the season . After another season with the Knicks, in which he established himself as a starter and scored 11.5 points on average, Hardaway was transferred to the Atlanta Hawks in June 2015 .

With these he played for two seasons. Both times he reached the playoffs. In his second season in 2016/17, Hardaway celebrated his breakthrough by adding 14.5 points from the bench.

His contract expired in the summer of 2017, making him a "Restricted Free Agent ". He signed a $ 71 million four-year contract with his original team, the New York Knicks. The Hawks did not take part in this offer, which is why he returned to New York. At the Knicks he played 54 season games with 17.5 points per game, his best season so far. In the following year he was the most successful scorer in the Knicks team until his trade with a good 19 points per game.

At the end of January 2019, Hardaway was transferred to the Dallas Mavericks .
