Courtney Lee (born October 3, 1985 in Indianapolis , Indiana ) is an American basketball player who is currently active in the North American professional league NBA for the Dallas Mavericks .
Career
college
In 2004, Lee was recruited to play for her by then head coach of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers , Darrin Horn. In his first season there, he set the college point record when he scored 461 points in 31 games. He was three times in a row in the All-Sun Belt Conference First Team between the 2005/06 season and the 2007/08 season .
In 2007-08 Lee was also named Sun Belt Player of the Year. On January 27, 2008, he achieved his college best with 33 points. When Lee moved to the NBA , he and Jim McDaniels held the record for the most points at Western Kentucky College with 2,238 points.
NBA
Orlando Magic
2008 Lee was at 22 out of the Orlando Magic drafted where he could reach there a points average of 8.4 points per game in his first and last season. That season he played 77 games, 42 of which he started as a player in the starting five . Even during the play-offs, in which the Magic reached the final series, he was in the starting line-up for the majority of the games.
New Jersey Nets
After his only season in Orlando, Lee moved to the New Jersey Nets as part of a player swap with Rafer Alston and Tony Battie for Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson , where he had his most successful season to date: He achieved career highs in the areas of minutes per game, Points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game and other areas. On March 8, 2010, he put in a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, a career high of 30 points.
Houston Rockets
On August 10th, he was part of a trade that consisted of 4 teams and 5 players. Lee became a player in the Houston Rockets, who in return sent Trevor Ariza to the New Orleans Hornets. In his first season there, his statistics worsened, but this was also due to the fact that he got over 12 minutes less playing time. In his second season his statistics went up again, but the Rockets just missed the playoffs in ninth in the Western Conference.
Boston Celtics
From 2012 to 2014 he played with the Boston Celtics .
Memphis grizzlies
On January 7, 2014 it was announced that Lee would join the Memphis Grizzlies for the upcoming season .
Charlotte Hornets
On February 16, 2016, Lee was transferred to the Charlotte Hornets as part of a three-team deal .
