Eduard Küntzel

Eduard Küntzel (born September 28, 1793 in Kulm , † October 11, 1860 in Danzig ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

The son of a Kulm official joined the 2nd Body Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army in 1811 . After he was promoted to portepeefähnrich and then to secondary lieutenant in 1813 , he took part in the wars of liberation . He fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , on the Katzbach , near Leipzig , Laon , Paris ( Iron Cross II. Class) and in the battles near Möckern , Leitzkau ( Order of St. George IV. Class = Russian nobility ), Vitry, Châlons, Meaux, Berry au Bar and the transition near Wartenberg .

In 1815 he moved to the 8th Hussar Regiment , where he was promoted to prime lieutenant in 1820 , Rittmeister and squadron chief in 1829 and major in 1841 . In 1848 he was initially charged with leading the 9th Hussar Regiment and then appointed regimental commander. During the Baden Revolution he took part in battles near Kuppenheim, Wiesental, Bischweiler and Niederbühl. After his promotion to lieutenant colonel in 1849 was followed by 1851 to Colonel . In 1854 he became the commander of the 2nd Cavalry Brigade . He advanced to major general in 1855 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, Second Class with Swords on the Ring, in 1856 .
