Eduard Keeser
Eduard Keeser (born June 27, 1892 in Elberfeld , † January 29, 1956 in Hamburg ) was a German pharmacologist and professor at the University of Rostock and University of Hamburg .
Life
The pastor's son studied medicine from 1911 at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen , the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the Kaiser Wilhelm Academy for military medical education in Berlin . During the First World War he served as a field doctor and field medical assistant in various hospitals . Keeser passed the state examination in 1919, was licensed as a doctor and was awarded a Dr. med. doctorate (1920).
In 1927 he completed his habilitation at the Charité . In 1930 he followed the call of the University of Rostock to its chair for pharmacology. In November 1933 he moved to the University of Hamburg . He signed the confession of professors at German universities and colleges about Adolf Hitler . At the University of Hamburg he was dean of the medical faculty from 1934 to 1938 and 1940/41 . As part of defense research , he examined the poisonous effects of explosives . At the beginning of May 1937 he joined the NSDAP and from October 1940 belonged to the Nazi Lecturer Association . From 1940 he belonged to the senate of the colonial medical academy of the NSDAP in Hamburg. From May 1, 1941 to June 1945, he was rector of the Hanseatic University of Hamburg . Dismissed by the British military government in September 1945 , he was back in service as a professor by April 1946. In 1956 he retired .
Keeser dealt with the toxic environmental pollution from motor vehicles as early as 1930 .
Eduard Keeser's grave is on the Ohlsdorf cemetery in Hamburg, grid square R 25 (north of the water tower ).
