Eduard von Kunowski
Georg August Eduard Kunowski , since 1856 von Kunowski (born July 14, 1795 in Beuthen , † August 3, 1870 in Berlin ) was a Prussian general of the infantry and general inspector of the technical institutes of the artillery.
Life

Eduard was the son of the superintendent and president of the General Synod for Silesia George August Kunowski (1757-1838) and his wife Charlotte, née Henrici (1763-1832).
Military career
Kunowski first attended grammar school in Schweidnitz and then wanted to go to university to study theology . With the beginning of the wars of liberation he joined the Silesian Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a volunteer . Kunowski took part in the blockades of Glogau , Erfurt and Mainz in 1813 and resigned from service as a second lieutenant on February 6, 1815 . At the beginning of the summer campaign he rejoined the army and was employed by the 5th Silesian Landwehr Infantry Regiment. Since there was no use for him there, Kunowski was transferred to the artillery in May 1815 and the Silesian Artillery Brigade aggregated . On May 23, 1816, he joined the West Prussian Artillery Brigade and completed the General War School for further training in 1817/20 . As Prime Lieutenant Kunowski was then from the end of January 1821 to mid-October 1824 adjutant at the 1st artillery inspection and was then aggregated in his position of the Guards Artillery Brigade. In mid-March 1827 he was promoted to captain . As such, he was commanded to serve at Lieutenant General Braun from May 25, 1832 and the adjutantage was aggregated. On March 6, 1836 he was appointed adjutant to the inspector of the artillery workshops, Colonel von Neindorff . In this position, Kunowski advanced to major on March 30, 1839, and at the beginning of June 1841 switched to the General War Department as an assistant in the artillery department . At the same time he was aggregated with a salary of 1900 thalers of the Guard Artillery Brigade. With the rank and fees of a regimental commander, Kunowski was entrusted with the management of the affairs of the artillery workshops from January 13 to May 4, 1848. Subsequently appointed head of the artillery department of the General War Department, he rose in this position to colonel until mid-January 1851 . Under position à la suite of the guard artillery brigade, Kunowski was appointed inspector of the artillery workshops with the rank and fees of a brigade commander. In this capacity he was also a member of the Artillery Examination Committee and a member of the Examination Committee for Prime Lieutenant of the Artillery.
After his promotion to major general, Kunowski was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility on November 1, 1856, together with his brother Georg Moritz (1802–1866) by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV . From the end of November 1856 he was also a member of the study commission of the General War School and the Obermilitary Study Commission. In mid-December 1857 Kunowski received the rank of division commander, was appointed inspector of the technical institutes of the artillery on April 22, 1858 and was promoted to lieutenant general a month later. He was released from his position as a member of the study commission of the General War School on May 10, 1859. On the occasion of his 50th anniversary in service, the King honored Kunowski by awarding him the Order of the Crown, First Class, and on June 25, 1864 he promoted him to General of the Infantry. At the ceremonial opening of the Reichstag of the North German Confederation in 1867, Kunowski had the honor of wearing the Reich sword . Under awarded the Grand Cross of the Red Eagle with Oak Leaves Kunowski was on 22 June 1867 the statutory pension for disposition made.
After his death on August 6, 1870, he was buried in the Invalidenfriedhof .

Kunowski married Mathilde Braun (1806-1882) on August 8, 1827 in Berlin. She was the daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Johann Carl Ludwig Braun . The following children were born from the marriage:
