The Fürstenwalde – Wriezen railway , the longest stretch of the Oderbruch Railway, was a railway line that opened up large parts of the Oderbruch and the Lebus plateau . The railway was founded and built by the districts of Oberbarnim and Lebus .

history

The construction of the Oderbruchbahn goes back to a resolution of the district council of the Lebus district of November 5th, 1909-J.-Nr.AI 8156-, with which this district decided "in community with the Ober-Barnim district to operate a full-track locomotive Small railway for passenger and goods traffic from Wriezen ... to Fürstenwalde (Spree), with a branch from Hasenfelde to Müncheberg, to be built and put into operation according to the design of May 1909. The Lietzen manor, which legally formed its own manor district , was not only affected by the planned route, but it was also given its own rail connection with the "Lietzen Komturei" station. Construction of the railroad began on June 1, 1910. Between Fürstenwalde and Hasenfelde with a branch to Müncheberg, the route was opened on June 3 Opened June 1911. The Hasenfelde and Dolgelin section in question was put into operation on December 3, 1911, while the Fürstenwalde - Hasenfelde and Dolg sections were still missing elin - Golzow were completed by 02/09/1912. The extension to Wriezen finally went into operation on June 9, 1912. The branch line to Genschmar was put into operation on October 8, 1912. Connections to the state railway existed in Fürstenwalde, Dolgelin, Golzow and Wriezen. In Fürstenwalde there was also a connection to the Fürstenwalde – Beeskow railway line .

The station buildings of the smaller stations, which were built according to a uniform pattern, were striking. In addition to a small service building, a larger goods shed was built, the hip roof of which towered over the service building.

In 1932, the administrative districts were converted into a stock corporation, in which the state of Prussia and the province of Brandenburg also participated.

In Fürstenwalde, part of the railway line remained as a siding.

In April 1945 operations were stopped. It was not until April 1946 that he was resumed between Fürstenwalde and Dolgelin. In March, a large part of the route in the Oderbruch was destroyed by the floods. During the reconstruction, the line was already threaded into the state railway line at Bliesdorf, the parallel line to the small station in Wriezen was shut down. It was not until December 18, 1947 that traffic between Wriezen and Zechin could be resumed. Trains only ran between Zechin and Golzow in September 1948. The Friedrichsaue – Genschmar branch was not rebuilt. On April 1, 1949, the Deutsche Reichsbahn took over the Oderbruchbahn. Passenger traffic on the route was shut down in sections from 1966. On September 23, 1966, passenger trains ran for the last time between Dolgelin and Wriezen, and on September 28, 1968 between Fürstenwalde and Falkenhagen. In 1969 the passenger trains between Falkenhagen and Diedersdorf were over. The last traffic Dolgelin – Seelow Stadt – Lietzen was set on October 31, 1969. Freight traffic between Dolgelin and Seelow Stadt ended on January 10, 1994. In Fürstenwalde there is still a siding to Waldfrieden station, which is no longer used, and a track to the Fürstenwalde-Nord industrial area, which is still used by LACUFA-GmbH for Freight traffic is used.

Accident near Friedrichsaue

On November 28, 1944 in a wooded area near came Friedrichsaue in heavy fog of railcars T 71 of Friedrichsaue coming from a direction Dolgelin trains running local freight train head-on. The railcar and several freight cars derailed and were badly damaged. The railcar driver and the train driver lost their lives. Contemporary witnesses spoke of seven to nine dead and many seriously injured, especially those on vacation from the front. There are no sources about the event in the archives of the Oderbruchbahn ; the information in the annual report from 1944 ends in September of that year.

The two delayed trains should have crossed in Friedrichsaue as planned. When the T 71 from the branch line from Genschmar arrived in Friedrichsaue, the freight train, which was also delayed, was still on the Golzow – Friedrichsaue section. The train driver set the points in Friedrichsaue for entry and exit without the consent of the Zechin train registration office .
