history

Elbing had the German Teutonic Knights heard and was then the against the Order of opposing Prussian League joined. After the Thirteen Years' War , the Elbingen area came under the autonomous Prussian Royal Share under the sovereignty of the Crown of Poland in 1466 , which resulted in a temporary division of Prussia.

During the first Polish partition in 1772, the district became part of the Kingdom of Prussia and was part of the West Prussian province until 1919 . When, after the First World War , the provisions of the Versailles Treaty came into force in January 1920 , the areas east of the Vistula were annexed to neighboring East Prussia as the administrative district of West Prussia .

During the Second World War , the region became part of the Reichsgau Danzig-West Prussia of the German Reich on October 26, 1939 . In January 1945 the siege of Elbing by the Red Army began . In the summer of 1945 the region was placed under Polish administration by the Soviet occupation forces, along with West Prussia and the southern half of East Prussia, in accordance with the Potsdam Agreement . The German population was subsequently expelled from the region by the local Polish administrative authorities .

From 1975 to 1998 the rural community belonged to the Elbląg Voivodeship .
