The Enzianhütte is a private hut in the Allgäu Alps near Oberstdorf at an altitude of 1804 m and has been owned by the current operating family since 1937.
location
The hut is located in the Allgäu Alps near Oberstdorf in hillside meadows, on the ascent to the neighboring Rappenseehütte ( 2091 m ) and on to the Heilbronner Weg .
history
In 1935 Max Schwegler leased the 100-hectare alpine pasture which he managed from 1936 and bought in 1937. In the same year he started building the Enzianhütte which was completed in 1938 with 80 beds. Even then, dishes made from regional game were on the menu.
In 1948, after renovation work, operations were resumed, after which the hut was besieged by Moroccans after the First World War and was left in a desolate state.
In 1968 the material ropeway was built in order to better supply the hut.
In 1980 the hut was rebuilt, for which around 6,000 helicopter flights were necessary to fly in the required material. So that the management could continue during the construction work, the new hut was simply built around the old hut, and at the end of the season the old hut was simply removed from the new hut.
In 2000, an 80 m² wellness area was built in as part of the renovation work on the hut.
In 2004 the material ropeway was demolished and the supply switched to helicopters.
2009 Extension of the hut by an additional 160 m² and construction of a combined heat and power plant.
2012 Commissioning of our own microbrewery of our own dark wheat "Der Gipfelstürmer" and construction of the feel-good terrace.
In 2015 a BOS radio antenna was placed on the roof.
