The Prinz-Luitpold-Haus is a refuge of the Allgäu-Immenstadt section of the German Alpine Club in the Allgäu Alps , in the German state of Bavaria .

location

The Alpine Club Hut is located northwest of the Hochvogel summit above the Bärgündlebach valley at an altitude of 1,846 meters in the municipality of Bad Hindelang .

history

The Prinz-Luitpold-Haus was built in 1880 on the property of Prince Luitpold of Bavaria , who later became Prince Regent of Bavaria , after whom it was named. The house is "the oldest hut in the Allgäu Alps". After the nobility in the German Reich was abolished in 1919 until the end of the war, mostly only the name Luitpoldhaus was used.

It was not until 1932 that the Alpine Club section was able to purchase the property.

The hut has been rebuilt and expanded several times. The last time a modern biological wastewater treatment plant was installed was in 1994 .
