location
The Staufner Haus is located on the Hochgrat in the Nagelfluhkette , west below the mountain station of the cable car at 1634 m .
history
After a year of construction, the Staufner House was opened on July 20, 1908. The timber came from the nearby area and was cut in the Lanzenbach saw at the foot of the high ridge. The supply was initially carried out by porters and mules. In 1935, a tenant built a material ropeway on his own initiative. In 1939 the hut received electricity from a water turbine with a generator. For the construction of the Hochgratbahn a track was built in 1971, to which a 180 m long feeder also connects the Staufner house. Telephone and modern sanitary facilities have been in existence since 1973. In 1989 the roof structure was renewed and the storage capacity was expanded considerably.
