The Fiderepasshütte is located on the German-Austrian border near Oberstdorf in the western Allgäu Alps . It belongs to the Oberstdorf section of the German Alpine Club .
The Fiderepasshütte is the base for the ascent of the Mindelheimer Klettersteig with the transition to the Mindelheimer Hütte .
history
In 1935, after spending the night outdoors on the pass, Anderl Heckmair thought that there should actually be a hut here.
In 1938 the Ordensburg Sonthofen built a small two-room hut on the Fiderepass, which was named after Hermann Schertel.
In 1947 the Oberstdorf section of the German Alpine Club was able to buy the hut and 4512 m² of land for DM 13,000.
New measurements have shown that the state border runs directly over the terrace of the hut, which has the advantage for the guest that he can choose whether he wants to drink his beer in Germany or Austria.
The hut was originally supplied by mules until a material ropeway was opened on August 31, 1956.
From 1972 to 1974 the hut was expanded for the first time, resulting in today's hut.
In 1986 a new material ropeway was built, and a winter storage room or self-catering room was integrated into its mountain station, the cost was around 750,000 DM.
In order to get rid of the smell caused by the urgency at the hut, a fully biological sewage treatment plant was built in 1992 for 700,000 DM. In the first winter after commissioning, however, the system suffered so much damage that it had to be taken out of service. A court-appointed expert attested that the system had sunk by 20 cm due to the snow load and was generally too small.
The odor problem was only solved in 2002 with the construction of a five-kilometer sewer pipe to the Alpe Schlappoldhöfle.
In 2008 the panorama room was added and in 2013 36 new beds were added.
