The Kaufbeurer Haus ( 2005 m above sea level ) is a refuge in the Allgäu Alps on the north side of the Hornbach chain , above the Hornbachtal. It is a self-catering hut belonging to the Allgäu-Immenstadt section of the German Alpine Club . The hut is manned on weekends from Pentecost to the beginning of October. It has around 50 mattress dormitories . The winter room offers 14 beds when the hut is not open. The AV key is required for access.
Due to an official order from the Reutte District Authority , the upper floor of the hut is currently not allowed to be used as a bedroom, so that only the winter storage rooms are available when the hut is being serviced.
You can reach the hut in around three hours from Hinterhornbach .
