The Hermann-von-Barth-Hütte (also Barth-Hütte ) ( 2129  m above sea level ) is a refuge named after Hermann von Barth in the Allgäu Alps on the south side of the Hornbach chain , high above the middle Lech Valley . The hut is the highest mountain hut in the Allgäu Alps. It belongs to the Düsseldorf section of the German Alpine Club and is open from mid-June to the end of September. It has around 65 beds in mattress dormitories . The winter room offers 10 beds when the hut is not open. The hut is supplied via a material cable car.

You can walk to the hut in around three hours from Elbigenalp in the Lech Valley.

history

The hut was built in 1900. In 1921 (or 1924) the hut was acquired by the previous owner of the Akademischer Alpenverein München (AAVM) through the Düsseldorf section of the then German and Austrian Alpine Association .

Tours

The hut is located on the Enzenspergerweg , the most important high-altitude path in the Hornbach range , which connects the hut with the Kaufbeurer house to the east (walking time around 6 hours). The Kemptner Hütte can be reached in three hours to the west via the Krottenkopfscharte.

Other peaks in the vicinity of the hut are the Plattenspitze ( 2489  m ), the Ilfenspitzen ( 2552  m ), the Große Krottenkopf ( 2656  m ), the Balschtespitze ( 2499  m ) and the Kreuzkarspitze ( 2587  m ).

Near the hut are the southeast and southwest faces of the Wolfebnerspitzen ( 2432  m ), both of which offer a variety of climbing routes in the grippy main dolomite , which were renovated in 1999 . March- , Hermannskarspitze and Hermannskarturm are located to the west of the hut at a greater distance, the routes there were not rehabilitated, but preserved as a field of activity for alpine climbers.
