Finally he switched to the local Albertus University in Königsberg , where he heard lectures from Walther Ziesemer, among others . In 1910, Ziesemer was commissioned by the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences with a Prussian dictionary of East and West Prussian dialects ; But it was Walther Mitzka who got Riemann enthusiastic about folklore and suggested the topic of his doctoral thesis . In 1933 he became a member of the NSDAP. In 1935 , Riemann received his doctorate as Dr. phil.
Riemann had worked as a research assistant at the Prussia Museum during his studies . After completing his doctorate, he became an assistant at the Prussian dictionary. In 1937 he went to the City History Museum of Königsberg as a research assistant . There he worked closely with Eduard Anderson and Fritz Gause and completed his habilitation . In 1939 he became a lecturer in folklore at the college for teacher training in Elbing , which was rebuilt in March 1933 . After his release from captivity , he moved to Kiel . From 1947 to 1955 he was teacher in Oldenburg (Oldenburg) . As early as 1952 he was commissioned to continue the Prussian dictionary. When the dictionary section was moved to Kiel in 1955 and incorporated into the German Department of Christian Albrechts University , Riemann returned to Kiel. When he retired in 1972, he was still working on the Prussian dictionary. He was involved in the Göttingen working group and headed the commission for East German folklore . He also devoted himself to literary studies , in particular dialect poetry and Königsberg baroque literature . He was a long-time employee of the Ostpreußenblatt .
