The European elections in France in 2004 took place on 13 June 2004 as part of the EU -wide 2004 European elections instead. In France, 78 of the 732 seats in parliament were awarded, nine fewer than in 1999.

Suffrage

For the first time, a new voting system was used. France was divided into eight regional constituencies, with between 3 and 14 MPs being elected. The constituencies were: Nord-Ouest (12), Ouest (10), Est (10), Sud-Ouest (10), Sud-Est (13), Massif Central-Center (6) and Île-de-France (14 ). Then there was the constituency of Outre-Mer, in which the overseas territories , provided they were part of the European Union, were combined and in which three members were elected. There was a threshold clause of 5% per constituency .

The turnout in France was 42.8%.
